Use Open Source tools and data to understand crime and build connections to
communities.

Presenter: Eric Busboom, San Diego Regional Data Library

While advancing software and web services have made GIS more accessible, it
is still a capacity that is out of reach for most nonprofit and community
groups. Meanwhile, the GIS analysts work benefits from more community
interaction, attaching faces and lives to the points on the map. In this
interactive session, we'll use Open Source GIS programs and software
developed by the San Diego Regional Data Library to work with crime data and
learn how to involve the larger non technical community in geographic
analysis.
